Now That's Italian!
A Doraville reader steered us toward's Bambinelli's Pizzeria, describing it as "a cozy neighborhood restaurant, reminiscent of one you might find in New York." And on the cold, blustery Monday we headed out to Northlake II, a strip center behind Northlake proper, that sounded just about right.
Inside, all was fragrant and warm, and most of the customers obviously regulars. The restaurant has been in the same location for 20 years, long enough to have built a loyal following and to ensure a line on some weekend nights. Owner Bonnie Marisa Bambinelli is a friendly presence, and the restaurant does a thriving take-out business.
Think hearty and filling and you've got the food. We liked the New York-style pizza, sold by the slice during lunch, best of all. In fact, as our reader suggested, one slice plus one house salad equals one very satisfying meal. Add an order of cannoli for desert and you might hear an aria. -- S.P. |
